WHERE IS GUNUNG LANG RECREATIONAL PARK

Gunung Lang Recreational Park is located a few kilometers off the northern part of the city of Ipoh. The park is also nearby to one of the famous cave temple – Perak Cave Temple.

HOW TO GO GUNUNG LANG RECREATIONAL PARK

There is no direct public transportation to the park, visitors will need to take private transport or hire Grab to reach the park. By private transport, it will take around 10 minutes. The park is open from Monday – Sunday with operating hours from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Park entrance is FREE, but visitors require to pay for the boat ride at RM3 (Adults), and RM1.50 (Children & Seniors). Car Park is also FREE and available for all visitors.

After heading for a short boat ride to the island, visitors can enjoy some of the number of activities to offer in the park. Here are some fun things to do when visiting Taman Rekreasi Gunung Lang.

#1 CLIMB TO TOP OF LOOKOUT TOWER

Once visit will not be complete without climbing the Lookout Tower. From here visitors can have a birds-eye view of the picturesque lake and limestone hill.

Children visiting Gunung Lang Recreation Park can enjoy the park’s children’s playground. There are several pieces of playground equipment to play with such as see-saw, swings, and slides. The open space area is also big enough for children to run around and have some fun.

#3 GET INSIDE TO PERAK TRADITIONAL HOUSE

Get inside and explore the Perak Traditional House. The house is mostly built in wood, with vernacular roofing design for added shade and ventilation. The house is elevated and supported by stilts to help deter wild animals and natural calamities such as floods. Since the house is elevated, the stairs usually lead to the main porch of the house.

#4 EXPLORE THE MINI ZOO

Visitors can go and check on the mini-zoo which houses a group of horses, deer, and peacocks. There are also birds like parrots that are kept inside the cage. Children will find it interesting since it has educational information about the animals.

#5 FEED THE FISHES

Along the lakeside, a lot of fish are swimming all over the place which is significantly large. Visitors can feed the fish on the side by buying some bread at the ticket counter. Huge carp, catfish, and even turtles can be seen next to the platform side.

#6 HAVE A BREAK AT THE CAFETERIA

After exploring the park, one can have a break from the several shops that sell food and drinks. There are also stalls selling souvenirs and some knick-knacks to some tourists and visitors.

Gunung Lang Recreational Park is still considered one of the worth visiting places in Ipoh. After we visit some of the famous caves and temples in Ipoh we happen to pass by the park. Visitors who want to witness fantastic scenery and at the same time appreciate nature will have a great time here. As usual weekends and public holidays are crowded, advise visiting on weekends to avoid the crowds.
