Upper Seletar Reservoir Park is located along Mandai Road just beside the Mandai Executive Golf Course. The reservoir is within the Central Water Catchment area of Singapore which is bounded by other reservoirs; MacRitchie Reservoir, Lower Peirce Reservoir, and Upper Peirce Reservoir.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Ride the Bus 138 from Ang Mo Kio Interchange and after 21 stops alight at the bus stop just outside the park.

HISTORY OF UPPER SELETAR RESERVOIR

History Of Upper Seletar Reservoir

It was back in 1920 where this reservoir was built to meet the surge in demand for water in Singapore. The reservoir was officially opened by Her Royal Highness-Princess Alexandra in 1969. It was then known as Seletar Reservoir, and in 1986 an adjacent reservoir – Sungei Seletar Reservoir was also open. By 1992 the two reservoirs were renamed Upper Seletar Reservoir and Lower Seletar Reservoir respectively.

1. CLIMB THE ROCKET TOWER

Going to Upper Seletar Reservoir Park won’t be complete without climbing the Seletar Lookout Tower. When you look from afar the tower is often described as shaped of a rocket. The tower has a spiral staircase which is about 3-story high.

Once you are on the top you can get a great panoramic view of the park and reservoir. It is an awesome experience seeing the tranquil waters of the reservoir and the adjacent view of high trees on the side.

2. TAKE SNAPSHOT CASUARINA TREE

The lone Casuarina tree is the most iconic spot in the park where most of the wedding photography is taken on this area. The spot is often less crowded and it is located behind the iconic rocket-shaped tower.

3. ENJOY FISHING AT THE RESERVOIR

For the fishing enthusiast, Upper Seletar Reservoir Park has a dedicated fishing ground area. It is one of the designated fishing areas at a reservoir in Singapore.

When fishing on the reservoir, it is advisable to fish only at designated areas, and use only artificial bait.

The park comes has great facilities such as a bench for the visitor to rest, toilet, exercise corner, and car park. The park is open daily with park lighting hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM so visitors can enjoy visiting the park at any time of the day.

Having been able to visit the park, we must say that it is a peaceful location with great views out over the reservoir. A park is a perfect place for visitors who want to get away from the busy city life. Here visitors can find fresh air and a relaxing experience while walking in the park and sitting on the bench. While the park is relatively small, it is still worth visiting. Climbing through the tower and taking a snapshot of the Casuarina tree are the best things to do. It is recommended to visit in the early morning or late afternoon to catch a glimpse of sunrise and sunset. This park has a park connector that leads to Springleaf Nature Park and Lower Seletar Reservoir Park. If you have not been here, take time to visit the park and enjoy the scenery.
