WHERE IS GUNUNG LANG RECREATIONAL PARK

Gunung Lang Recreational Park is located in Ipoh, the state capital of Perak, Malaysia. It is about 5 kilometers off north from the city center. The park is situated near the base of the limestone hills and also nearby to the famous cave temple Perak Cave Temple.

HOW TO GO GUNUNG LANG RECREATIONAL PARK

There is no direct public transportation to the park, visitors will need to take private transport or book a ride to reach the park.

From Ipoh City Center:
Drive towards Jalan Kuala Kangsar, and follow the signs to Gunung Lang Recreational Park. It is about a 10-minute drive from the city center.

Book A Ride or Ride-Sharing:
Visitors can book the ride-sharing apps like Grab to get directly to the park from anywhere in Ipoh.

The park is open from Monday – Sunday with operating hours from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Park entrance is FREE, but visitors require to pay for the boat ride at RM3 (Adults), and RM1.50 (Children & Seniors). Car Park is also FREE and available for all visitors.

The park is situated in an area characterized by its limestone hills, which have formed over millions of years through the dissolution of soluble rocks. During the late 19th century, tin mining activities were known in Ipoh. These activities play a significant role in the development of the region. To restore and conserve the natural landscape, the government stepped up to preserve the natural environment. It was in 1992 that it officially opened to the public as a recreational spot, showcasing the natural beauty of the limestone hills and the surrounding environment. Till now, the park is a popular recreational place that features a lake, boat rides, and various other amenities designed to enhance the visitor experience.

Get inside and explore the Perak Traditional House. The house is mostly built in wood, with vernacular roofing design for added shade and ventilation. The house is elevated and supported by stilts to help deter wild animals and natural calamities such as floods. Since the house is elevated, the stairs usually lead to the main porch of the house.

Along the lakeside, a lot of fish are swimming all over the place which is significantly large. Visitors can feed the fish on the side by buying some bread at the ticket counter. Huge carp, catfish, and even turtles can be seen next to the platform side.

As usual weekends and public holidays are crowded, advise visiting on weekends to avoid the crowds.
