THOMSON NATURE PARK TRAIL GUIDE

Welcome as we explore Thomson Nature Park trails located on Upper Thomson Road. Take a hike on trails of Ruins-Fig Trail, Stream-Ferns Trail, Rambutan Trail, Rambutan Trail, Langur Trail, and Macque Trail. This trail covers about 3.8 km around the former village’s where visitors can revisit the ways of life during the kampung days. It also shows the different variety of floral and fauna species found in this nature park. If you are lucky walking along the trails, you see one of the endangered animal-Banded Langur (a.k.a. WHERE IS THOMSON NATURE PARK

Thomson Nature Park is located between the Old Upper Thomson Road and Upper Thomson Road. It is a nearby to the nature reserve of Upper Peirce Reservoir Park, and Lower Peirce Reservoir Park. The park is open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

HOW TO GO THOMSON NATURE PARK

Bus Stop After Tagore

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Ride the Bus No; 138, 138A, 167, 169, 860, 980 and alight at the Upper Thomson Road bus stop (Aft Tagore Dr). Walk for about 3 minutes to reach the main entrance of the park.

TAXI/PRIVATE CAR
Inform the taxi driver that you are heading to Nature Nature Park, which is located at Upper Thomson Road. The car park is located at the main entrance of the park. It is open 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM daily and parking charge is at $0.60 per 30 min.

1. RUINS AND FIG TRAIL (1.5 KM)

The Ruins and Figs Trail is a 1.5 km loop hike that runs around the old village. This trail mostly consists of the abandoned and old buildings left by the Hainan village. It has a total of eight (8) ruins upon exploring this interesting trail. The old road signs for Lorong Pelita and Jalan Belang that connect the Hainan village are still available. Aside from that various fruit trees like the durian fruit can be seen on this trail.

2. STREAM AND FERNS TRAIL (1.4 KM)

The Stream and Ferns trail is the second-largest trail in terms of distance, it covers about 1.4 km. This trail intersects with the Ruins and Figs trail along the road of Lorong Pelita. The trail consists of a mini rain forest where the fresh damp of soil covers the ground and with clear water streams. From here visitors can see the different flora and fauna of the park.

3. RAMBUTAN TRAIL (400 M)

Rambutan Trail is a short 400m trail located near the main entrance of the park. Hiking along this trail you will notice the number of fruit trees available specially Rambutan. Back then, the site was owned by Mr. Han Wai Toon who cultivates the land and planted rambutan trees. Later on, it was called Rambutan, due to the number of rambutan trees along this area.

4. LANGUR TRAIL (150 M)

Langur Trail is an easy 150 meters walk that connects to the Macaque trail. The trail was named after the Banded Langur (Banded Leaf Monkey) which is one of the endangered animals in Singapore. The trail entrance is located on the Old Upper Thomson Road which is a nearby walk to the main entrance of Upper Peirce Reservoir Park.

5. MACQUE TRAIL (350 KM)

The macaque trail is a 350 meters trail the connects Langur Trail. Explore the trail through its scenic forest and water downstream. The trail’s main entrance can be access on the Old Upper Thomson Road which few meters away from the entrance of Upper Peirce Reservoir Park.

cONCLUSION

After a visit and hike on this Thomson Nature Park trail, we were able to experience the unique history of the park. The park shows us the history of the Hainan village, and the remains like the ruins buildings. Hiking along the trails are mostly covered by the shades of the trees which is convenient for most nature lovers. Visitors can also feel the cool breeze of nature where you can enjoy its fresh air.
