HOW TO APPLY JAPAN TOURIST VISA IN DAVAO

( SINGLE ENTRY - VISA )

If you plan to visit Japan, one of the requirements upon entry is to have a tourist visa. Japan Tourist Visa Application in Davao City is a straightforward process as long as you provide all the requirements. I apply for Japan Tourist Visa in Davao City and here I will share with you the process of obtaining Japan Tourist Visa. You don’t have to worry if your documents are correct or lack of data as officers in the agency will thoroughly check all your requirements.

1. Japan TOURIST VISA APPLICATION FORM

Japan Tourist Visa application forms are available on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan website. Alternatively, visa application forms are available at the office of the Japan Embassy or any accredited travel agencies. After you have download the application form, fill-up all the required information. Fill up information with N/A  on those sections that are not applicable. Under the Other names section, provide your maiden name on it. Likewise, ID No. issued by government IDs (SSS, Driver License) is required to enter on the form.

Make sure that all information in the visa application form is correct. Also, a visa application form that contains blank information, no signature, or an empty date will not be accepted. Once you complete all the necessary information, you need to print and sign the Japan visa application form. Here is the completed sample form which I create for Japan tourist visa application.

2. philippine passport

Japan Tourist Visa Applicaiton for Philippine Passport in Singapore

The second requirement for the application for Japan Tourist Visa is your Philippine Passport. Philippine passport should have the below criteria;

A. Philippine Passport must have at least 6 months’ validity before the intended departure date. But as a rule of thumb, it is advisable to have at least 1-year validity of passport. This will increase the chance of your visa application to be approve. 
B. Philippine passport should have a least two (2) blank pages for the visa to be stick once approve.
C. Passport must be signed at the back page and strictly broken Passport will not be accepted.

3. Japan visa photo

Visit any nearest photoshop you want to obtain a Japan visa photo. Most of the photo or studio shops in Davao City have an idea on the photo sizes. Just in case, below is the detailed requirements for the Japan photo visa.

A. The photo must be in colored and should be taken within 6 months
B. Photo size must be 4.5cm x 4.5cm (1.77in x 1 .77in)
C. The photo must be in full-faced, front-facing with white/light background (It should be unedited and no shadow on the background)
D. Write your name and birth date at the backside of the photo.
E. Paste the photo on the visa application form

4. birth and Marriage certificate

Birth and Marriage certificate can be obtained at the PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority) Main Office. Below are the necessary requirements for both certificates.

A. Both copies of your Birth and Marriage certificate must be taken within 6 months upon Japan visa application. 
B. Also, both certificates must be readable and no missing information. If the certificate has missing information or it’s unreadable, you are required to obtain a copy of birth or marriage certificate from Local Civil Registrar.

Obtaining a copy of the Birth and Marriage certificate in Davao City is located at Cabaguio Avenue. PSA Birth and Marriage copy will be at Php 125 respectively. Below is the detailed location of the office on NSO in Davao City.

5. ITINERARY (Schedule of stay)

The schedule of stay or Itinerary is also one of the requirements of the Japan Tourist Visa application. Schedule of stay can be obtained through the Ministry of Japan website. Below is the sample screenshot for our schedule of stay.

Along with the Itinerary, please include submitting a copy of your 2-way flight booking ticket to Japan. It would also better to include your hotel/room or Airbnb reservation during your stay in Japan.

If the applicant will shoulder part or all of his/her travel expenses

6. Bank CERTIFICATE

Bank statement or Certificate of Balance can be obtained from your Philippine bank (BPI, BDO, Security Bank, etc) For me, I visit a BDO branch and request a copy of Certificate of Balance. Inform the bank customer service on the purpose of this request which will be for Japan tourist visa application. Do not forget to bring a copy of your Passbook /ATM and a valid ID to verify your identity. For BDO accounts, a Certificate of Balance can only be obtained to a BDO Branch where you have to open your BDO account. Also, take note that there will be Php 100 charge upon this request. The validity of the Bank Certificate is only three (3) months from the date of issue.

In terms of how much is the required amount or balance, we recommend following the sample budget whereby Php 10,000 per day expense in Japan travel. So if you intend to stay in Japan for 5 days, the minimum bank account balance should be at least Php 50,000.

7. Income TAX RETURN

The latest income tax statement issued by the government BIR (Bureau Internal Revenue) is required on the visa application. Income tax statements can be obtained from your employer. Request a copy of ITR form 2316 from the HR department.

8. GUARANTEE LETTER

A letter of guarantee is required upon application of Japan Tourist Visa. The guarantee letter must indicate  that your spouse will cover your expenses in Japan. 9. SPOUSE INCOME TAX RECORD AND BANK CERTIFICATE

The latest income tax statement issued by the government BIR (Bureau Internal Revenue) is required on the visa application. Income tax statements can be obtained from the employer where your spouse is working. Request a copy of ITR form 2316 from the HR department.

Since the spouse will be sponsoring the travel expenses, a spouse’s bank statement is needed. Visit the bank branch office and request a copy of the bank certificate. This certificate will show that there is enough financial support that will use for your travel expense.

10. PROOF OF RELATIONSHIP

Proof of the relationship between the applicant and the guarantor (e.g. Marriage Certificate). Aside from the marriage certificate, your spouse’s birth certificate, taken within 6 months before the application is also required.

REMINDER

  • All documents must be in original copies.
  • All submitted documents for the visa must be in A4 size paper only.
  • Documents should not be stapled or pasted

Visa Submission to nearest accredited japan travel agency

Once you have completed all the above requirements, visit the nearest accredited Japan travel agencies and submit all the documents. Japan tourist visa application in Davao has two accredited travel agencies. These are Discover Tour and Attic Tour Philippines.

PROCEDURE

  1. Prepare all the above requirements and submit them to the officer-in-charge for assessment.
  2. Officer in charge will verify all submitted information.
  3. Once all information is correct, please prepare visa application payment of Php 1,000.
  4. Officer in charge will provide the collection slip which will usually take 5 – 8 working days to process the visa.
  5. Once the visa is available, the officer-in-charge will notify you via SMS or call to collect your Japan Visa on their office.
