Kusu Island is located in one of the Southern Islands in Singapore, which is around 5.6 km from the main island of Singapore. It is nearby St John’s Island, Lazarus Island which is also located further south of Singapore.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Take the North-South MRT line and alight Marina South MRT station. Head to the ticket counter at Marina South Pier and book a two-way ticket to reach the island. Round trip ticket from Marina South Pier to Kusu Island and St John’s island is S$15. Travel time will usually take approximately 30 minutes to reach Kusu Island. During weekends there is more ferry service which gives visitors more choices.

How To Go To Kusu Island In Singapore

Since Kusu Island is part of Singapore, there is no need to bring a passport to travel from the mainland.

1. VISIT THE TEMPLE

One of the main attractions of the Kusu Island in Singapore is the Da Bong Gong Temple which has a bold red and green roof building. This traditional Chinese temple is a holy place for devotees to pay homage and prayers to the two deities; the Tua Pek Gong and the Goddess of Mercy. During October there are many devotees and pilgrimage seek blessings for good luck and good fortune.

2. CHECK THE TORTOISE SANCTUARY

The sculpture of two tortoises standing at the compound shows that it was built in 1976. There’s is a tortoise sanctuary that was built to preserve the number of tortoises.

3. SWIM ON THE BEACH

Within the island, there are small huts with a table for visitors to rest and eat. There are also barbecue pits where visitors can use to cook. The area was surrounded by some trees that provide good shelter and shade throughout the day.

5. CLIMB THE TOP OF KUSU KRAMAT

The Kusu Kramat

Climb through the 152 steps of the hill of the Kusu Kramat and visit the shrines of three Malay saints. Here devotees usually pay homage, and blessings for wealth, marriage, fertility, good health, and harmony. As of writing this blog, Keramat Temple is currently closed due to a landslide held last January.

The hawker center provides different varieties of meals at affordable prices. But as of writing this blog, do note that there are no open shops, visitors are required to bring along their water bottles, food, and snacks.

The island has one (1) toilet located near the temple, but visitors are recommended to carry toilet papers and other sanitary amenities.
