Gunung Irau is a mountain located in the Cameron Highlands region of Malaysia. It has the elevation of 2,110m which makes it the highest mountain around Cameron Highlands region. It is known for its cool climate and mossy forests, which are part of the larger Titiwangsa Range. The weather in the Cameron Highlands is cooler and more temperate compared to the lowlands, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C during the day and dropping lower at night.  Gunung Irau is popular among hikers and nature enthusiasts due to its scenic trails and unique biodiversity, including various species of flora and fauna adapted to the highland environment. WHERE IS GUNUNG IRAU

Gunung Irau is situated in the border of Pahang and Perak states of Malaysia which specifically within the Cameron Highlands region. It’s part of the Titiwangsa Range, that runs through the Malay Peninsula. HOW TO GO GUNUNG IRAU

To reach Gunung Irau Cameron Highlands, visitors will typically take bus or private transport which will usually takes about 3-4 hours if you are coming from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Due to the nature of the trail it is recommended to hire a guide or join a guided tour to ensure safety. Guides are familiar with the trail conditions, which can provide information about the flora and fauna, and ensure you stay on the right path.

Upon reaching Cameron Highlands, hikers who are in the guided tour will head to Cameron Square Mall. From here visitors will need to take 4WD ride to go to the starting point of Gunung Irau.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE TRAILS

The hiking trail leading to the summit of Gunung Irau, usually starts from the Mossy Forest entrance and takes hikers through mossy jungle terrain, steep ascents, and even muddy path.
