WHERE IS DAMNOEN SADUAK FLOATING MARKET LOCATED

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is located in the province of Ratchaburi which is about 109 kilometers southwest of Bangkok. The floating market is open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Daily.

1: Head to Southern BUS STATION

We recommend getting up early and head to the bus terminal. Look for a taxi and head to Southern Bus Terminal. For us, since we are coming from the coming from Bangkok Train Station, we hire a taxi and  inform the driver that we are heading to the Southern Bus Station, or the bus terminal the goes to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. The bus terminal is located at Boromaratchachonnan Road which northwest of the city center of Bangkok. Arriving late in the floating market most likely will cause jams and tour buses will get packed by the time you reach late in the morning.

Once you reach the Southern Bus Terminal, look for the Bus No. 78 that departs to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. These buses cater both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned leaving bus terminal. The bus ticket for one-way is around 100 Baht (Air-Conditioned), while 50 Baht for the normal bus. The total travel time is roughly 1-hour depending on the traffic conditions so it is advisable to travel early in the morning to avoid traffic jams.

Once you reach and the bus alights you, walk along and hire for a motorized boat. Board on the motorized long-tail boat like this you through streams and canals. There are two-type of boats that serve in Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

1 Mechanical/Long-tail boats are equipped with big engines. The average rate is about 700 Baht good for a 1-hour tour in the market.

2 Paddleboats on the other hand are boats with a person at the back paddling you through the canal.

During the journey, you will be able to see local Thai water houses and villages and notice how the Thai people lived. The whole journey will take around 20 minutes to reach to the floating market.

On the sides of the canals are vendors that sell these items and some locals are paddling their boats in the market, busy trading, or buying fruits and vegetables. During our visit, we did try to eat great Thai noodle soup, one thing we are amazed of is that those foods are being cooked inside the wooden boat. Overall the food is cheap and the fruits are fresh and delicious
