WHERE IS YISHUN PARK

Yishun Park is located along the road of Yishun Avenue 11 and Yishun Central. It is beside the Safra Yishun Country Club and opposite to Yishun Pond. The park is open 24 hours, which makes it accessible at any time of the day you intend to visit.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

There are two (2) ways to go to Yishun Park. Alight at Yishun MRT station;
1. Walk through the opposite of Yishun MRT station. Ride the Bus no. 103 or 806 at Yishun Bus Interchange and alight 4 stops after along the road of Yishun Avenue 11.
2. Otherwise walk straight along Yishun Central road, after 15 minutes you will be able to reach main entrance of the park.

Inform the taxi driver that you are heading to Yishun Park, which is located at Yishun Avenue 11.

HISTORY OF YISHUN PARK

Before Yishun Park was built, the place previously comprises a small village (kampongs) with different plantations in the late 1970s. Since the land was filled with rubber plantations and fruits trees, most of the villagers worked as a farmer. Fast forward to the 1980s, the land was developed as a settlement and home by the Singapore government. To preserve the plantations, part land was retained and later develop as a park which is then called Yishun Park in 1995. Now, 70% of the park is still covered with the original plantations like fruit trees-rambutan, durian, jack-fruit, and even rubber.

WHAT TO DO IN YISHUN PARK

Inside the park, there number of activities for each visitor, family and friends has to offer. This includes multipurpose court, exercise fitness equipment, cycling track, children play equipment. Also there is dog run area where dogs can easily play and run around.

1. EXPLORE THE MINI FOREST

Visitors at Yishun Park can explore explore and take a stroll on the rain forest trees which contains about 800 trees, representing different variety and species. On top of that, tropical fruit trees such as durian, rambutan, jack fruit and starfruit can be seen on the park.

2. PLAY ON THE NATURE PLAYGARDEN

The park has a it’s so-called Nature Play-garden that offers children to play around on the pile woods, and sand play area. Every children would love running around and explore its nature theme equipment.

Aside the its Nature Play-garden, there is also another playground for children ages 2-5 years old and above. Playground equipment’s such as climbing ropes, slides, swing and seesaw.

3. PERFORM COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES AT THE AMPHITHEATER

Yishun Park also has an amphitheater which serves as event place for any musical events, plays, community activity in the park. Located near the Safra clubhouse is a small-scale amphitheater which can host up to around 100 persons. It is ideal place to hold events and community gatherings.

4. BRING YOUR DOG AT THE DOG RUN AREA

Inside the park, there is dog run area where dogs can play and exercise freely off-leash. It is located along the junction of Yishun Central and Yishun Avenue 11, right at the Hopea entrance. Dog run area consist of two enclosures where the dog easily move around with owner supervision.

5. GET FIT AT THE EXERCISE CORNER

The park has two (2) exercise corner which provide basic and advance full-body workout for most fitness enthusiast. After short jog or run within the park most visitors will continue to workout on this equipment’s.

6. VISIT YISHUN POND VIA YISHUN PARK CONNECTOR

Yishun park is connected by elevated bridge that links to Yishun Pond Park. The bridge has access to the spiral tower where every visitor can enjoy the scenic view of the pond and surrounding areas. Yishun Pond Park is located at the back of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

6. ENJOY YOUR MEAL AT NEARBY CAFE AND HAWKER CENTER

Near the east entrance of the park, beside SAFRA Clubhouse there is McDonald’s outlet. While on the other side of the park, at west entrance there is Yishun Park Hawker Center. So after a day of exploring in the park, one can sit back and relax and enjoy wonderful meal and refreshment at this choices.

7. VISIT SAFRA YISHUN COUNTRY CLUB

Just outside the park is Safra Clubhouse, the clubhouse offers indoor and outdoor activities, restaurant, function room for events and entertainment.

8. TAKE A BREAK ON PUBLIC TOILET

Yishun park has three (3) public toilets located at the distinct entrance of the park. There is a water fountain in case you will need to drink or top up your water bottle.
