WHERE IS SEMBAWANG

Sembawang town is located in the northern part of Singapore with its nearby town of Yishun and Woodlands. The easiest way to go to Sembawang  by public transportation is taking the North-South MRT line, and alight on the 11 station – Sembawang Station.

Located in the northern part of Singapore, Sembawang Park provides a laid-back get-away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Heading there really takes an extra effort to visit, but once you make it the park is worth a visit. The nature park is surrounded by trees that add greenery which makes it ideal for a short walk or jog. The jetty serves as the common spot for fishing enthusiasts and an overlooking view of the coast of Johor. The park offers a good picnic place on the beach ground and with designated barbecue pits for friends and family gatherings.

Sembawang Park is right beside the Sembawang Shipyard, which was formerly a British Naval Base back from 1938 to 1968.

2. PRAY AT SEMBAWANG GOD OF WEALTH TEMPLE

The temple of God of Wealth symbolizes the Chinese god of prosperity worshiped in Chinese folk religion and Taoism. Most of the devotees converge to pray and seek wealth on this impressive God of Wealth statue. The statue is standing at around 30 feet tall on top of the roof which overlooks the Sembawang canal and Woodlands Avenue 10 road. Going inside the temple, devotees can see interior decorations and ornate figures from other deities.

But with the recent massive fire that happens at the temple, the damage to the temple was extensive but good to know that one was injured and statues of various deities are still intact.

3. SOAK YOUR FEET AT SEMBAWANG HOT SPRING

Sembawang Hot Spring is known as the only hot spring in Singapore which is accessible by the public for FREE. It is located near the junction of Sembawang Road and Gambas Ave beside the army camp and across Chong Pang Market. Recently it was developed into a lovely park with surrounding plants and trees that add a pleasant experience. The spring water is really hot as it can reach up to 70 degrees celsius with the smell of sulfur. Visitors are allowed to soak their feet on a well-designed pool and wooden tubs with buckets and scoops are provided. Visitors can even bring their eggs to cook in the boiling water. It is recommended to come early to enjoy the serene atmosphere as many visitors will flock to the park in the later day.

4. HEAD TO ULU SEMBAWANG PARK CONNECTOR

This park connector is the common access route for cyclists and hikers. Ulu Sembawang Park Connector is located along the Seletar Expressway (SLE) and ends at Mandai road. Most cyclists riding mountain bikes use this connector to go to Mandai T15 nature trail park. Also, it is a good place for a short leisure walk while enjoying the view of nature. From here visitors witness the misty view of sunrise.

5. LET KIDS PLAY AT CANBERRA PARK

Canberra Park is an outdoor playground located beside the Skypark condominium which is around 10 minutes from Sembawang MRT station. The park has a number of slides, swings designed for preschoolers or toddlers to run and play around.

Children can also climb and walk along the ropes and even play badminton and basketball on the court. There are gazebos and bbq pits to have a picnic or party with your family and friends.

6. SHOP AT SEMBAWANG SHOPPING CENTER

Sembawang Shopping Center is one of the largest shopping malls in the area which caters to the nearby residents. It has services that provide visitors retail and dining experience under one roof. Aside from that the mall also has a fitness gym, beauty treatment centers, DIY shops, and children’s centers.

It is located along Sembawang Road and opens 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM (Daily). The mall also provides FREE shuttle bus service within Sembawang and neighboring towns like Yishun and Woodlands area.

7. Taste Famous Sembawang White Beehoon and Traditional Claypot Rice

The famous White Beehon was known for its little dry and bit soup with mixed clear gravy. The ingredients include eggs, vegetables, squid, and prawns which make it taste good. The restaurant is located along the corner of Jalan Legundi and Jalan Tampang which is opposite the Sembawang Shopping Center.

Sembawang Traditional Claypot Rice is one of the famous claypot rice in Singapore. The claypot rice includes pre-cooked chicken breast meat which makes it tender. It also has Chinese sausage and salted fish makes on top of the rice which add more taste and delicious. The restaurant is located along Jalan Tampang which right opposite to the Sembawang Shopping Center.

8. VIsit the NEWLY OPEN BUKIT CANBERRA HUB
