Welcome to our Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Trail Guide for all visitors. The newly renovated wetland reserve has new exciting trails that include the Migratory Bird Trail, Coastal Trail, Mid-Canopy Trail, and Forest Trail. Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve covers about 202 hectares of natural wonders with home to unique plants and animals. Walking through the trails visitors can explore along with the mangroves, ponds, forest, and marshlands. Not only that visitors can also witness the wide variety of wildlife like birds, fish, insects, and reptiles like the free-roaming saltwater crocodiles. The trails are all easy to walk around, no hills, and mostly it’s on flat land. Come and join us with your water bottle, camera, binoculars, and sturdy shoes as we together explore the trails of Sungei Buloh NatureReserve.

WHERE IS SUNGEI BULOH WETLAND RESERVE

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is located on the northwest side of Singapore. The wetland reserve is right in front of the southern part of Malaysia-Johor Bahru which is right across the Straits of Johor.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

The easiest way to get to Sungei Buloh Singapore is to ride Bus No. 925 from Kranji MRT Station. The bus stop is located just outside the train station, it will take 10 bus stops to reach Sungei Buloh. Once you reach the bus stop of Kranji Reservoir Carpark B cross the street and walk for about 5 minutes to reach the Information Center. During Sundays and Public Holidays, Bus No. 925M will be available for service.

TRAIL GUIDE TO SUNGEI BULOH WETLAND RESERVE

There are five (5) trails in the newly renovated Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve namely; Forest Trail, Mid-Canopy Walk, Coastal Trail, Mangrove Boardwalk, and Bird-Migrating Trail. It also has a designated trail for children under the Junior Adventure Trail. Our suggested trail route will be to start at the Visitor Centre to take a glimpse of the Sungei Buloh Map. Walk through the Forest Trail then head to the boardwalk which leads to the Eagle Point-a lookout pod. From here head straight to the mangroves along the Coastal trail passing the majestic Banyan tree then to the Kingfisher Pod and mudskipper Pod. After completing through the coastal trail, head to the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Center, cross the Main Bridge, and complete a loop around the Migrating Bird Trail.

1. HIKE THROUGH THE FOREST TRAIL

Explore the trail that passes through a dense forest that is surrounded by different types of trees. This 300m forest trail is located behind Sungei Buloh visitor center and right beside the Mid-canopy Walk.

Walking into this trail feels like you are walking through the woods with high-standing trees along the way.

2. FEEL THE BOUNCE AT THE MID-CANOPY WALK

This 150m long walkway is the shortest trail within the nature reserve park. The canopy consists of bridges that are linked up with platforms.

The canopy’s height from the ground is only around 1m so it will not as exhilarating experience compare to MacRitchie Tree Top. Visitors will enjoy the bouncing experience on this canopy walk located beside the Forest trail.

3. EXPLORE THE COASTAL TRAIL

The Coastal Trail is one of the exciting trails to walk within the Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve. The coastal trails cover 1300m long of a mixture of boardwalk and cemented pathway.

4. EXPERIENCE THE MANGROVE BOARDWALK

The mangrove boardwalk is part of the coastal trail where visitors will have a pleasant walking experience along with the mangrove trees. Here visitors can see birds sitting on top of the mangrove trees while a school of fish and mud-skippers is on the saltwater. The boardwalk is well maintained to complement more interesting wildlife viewing.

5. HIKE THROUGH MIGRATING BIRD TRAIL

The Migrating Bird Trail is the longest route in the Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve. It consists of a 1,900m loop around the side of the marshland landscape. It is located after the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Center near the Main Bridge. This trail is the common spot for migratory birds species coming from the northern hemisphere.

The Aerie Tower is located on the Migrating Bird Trail, the tower serves as a good spot to see the panoramic view of the vast marshland.

The wetland reserve has a Junior Adventure Trail where children can enjoy and play in the designated area. Children can choose on the two (2) outdoor adventure obstacles which mimic challenging trails. The designs of the obstacles are shaped like mangrove roots and stone stepping. The adventure trail helps children to be active and develop self-confidence, with balance and eye-foot coordination.
