Mount Bromo is standing at 2,329 above sea level within Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The volcano sits inside the Tengger Caldera, alongside other volcanic peaks like Mount Batok and the towering Mount Semeru, the highest mountain on Java. Bromo is named after Brahma, the Hindu creator god, and is considered sacred by the local Tenggerese people, who hold annual rituals like Yadnya Kasada, where offerings are thrown into the crater.
